Vectorize plans: What does vectorizing plans mean?

The first automatic vectorization programs came onto the market around 20 years ago, and they are still available today. Nevertheless, in most cases the quality of an automatic vectorization is practically insufficient to continue working with it in a meaningful way or to use the result directly. The results of automatic vectorization are often unusable and manual post-processing of the construction plans would be too time-consuming. For this reason, we use the term "plan digitization" instead of "vectorization" to make a clear distinction from automatic vectorization.
In computer graphics processing, the term vectorization, sometimes also referred to as (image) tracing, refers to the automated process of converting raster graphics into vector graphics. Automatic vectorization attempts to recognize simple geometric objects in a raster image. The common method uses edge detection to search for areas of equal or similar brightness or color, also known as posterization, which are then expressed as graphical primitives or Bézier curves. The result is then exported to various vector graphic file formats, such as SVG, AI, CDR, EPS, TTF, PDF or various CAD formats.
Nowadays, hardly any architects still produce hand-drawn plans. However, if only hand-drawn plans are available, we can digitize them for you. The result of such digitization is sometimes referred to as a digitized image.
